Touring Kayaks

Postby Dre'man on Sat Nov 14, 2009 5:32 pm

Ok so it is done, this is what I am getting. And just for Peanut, can carry 180Kg

The ultimate destination kayak, the original Tarpon 160 is the one that started it all and has become the standard by which others are measured. For 2009, our famous sit on top touring kayak is taking the lead in redefining the Tarpon series, boasting the most enhancements of the line. We’ve re-designed our 16-foot kayak with more capacity and even greater speed and acceleration.

With the newly improved outfitting, the Tarpon 160 is also the fisherman’s dream. While it features all the traditional rigging to bring in and haul away “the big one,” we’ve now included the new SlideTrax accessory system for virtually limitless add-ons. More easy access storage, legendary Phase 3 comfort, new locking hatch covers, and a re-engineered scupper tube design ensure all that extra gear you’ll be taking stays dry.

Whether it’s launching through the surf or cruising the lake, the all-new Tarpon 160 is the only sit on top for those who won’t compromise comfort for performance.

Can be used for surfing, snorkelling, diving, fishing, photography, nature observation, touring / overnight/weekend camping trips.

This kayak is at home in the surf, moderate ocean swells, slow moving rivers, lagoons, dams, estuaries

Standard Features: Comfort Carry Handles / Large Oval Orbix Bow Hatch / 8-inch Orbix Midship Hatch / Tankwell w/ Bungee / Phase 3 SOT Seating System / Side Carry Handles with Paddle Holder / Tarpon Storage Pockets / SlideTrax System / BTS Rudder System

No petrol, no oil changes, no perished pipes if they stand for a few months.

Werk ja maar lekker werk.

do you paddle downstream then have someone collect you, or do you have to paddle back?

Haha most of the time just round a dam like flattrack. But if on a river downstream and in the sea they usually try set the courses downwind as well. Something like the Vaal you can padde both ways.
